 Lights, Action, Camera.......
I began my career as a wedding planner seven years ago and since then I have seen lots and learned plenty. I love being a wedding planner. Sitting with a glowing bride and listening to her share with me what her vision of her dream wedding looks like is exhilarating for me. I listen intently to what my bride in visions offer suggestion or guide in gentle directions so that we won’t have an disaster and then we execute. At Waters Mill, once I have met with my bride and “got the vision”, I then live with that wedding in my head and heart for months till the big day. But there is so much more......
Being a wedding planner is much like a movie producer. There are so many details that need attention and it is the attention to details that make our weddings so spectacular at Waters Mill. No matter what conditions we may face, “the show must go on”. A Wedding Planner makes sure the vision happens no matter what. The wedding day is much deceiving to our guests for it looks like a fairytale with all the gorgeous decor meticulous in play and all team members are cue to the tee ready for execution. I love to hear the gasp when people enter the reception area for the first time and experience the “Wow” factor. At Waters Mill, we are blessed to have the team that can produce spectacular events. It begins with the landscape as we spend hours working to make sure every flower, every tree receives tender loving care in order that she may blossom into a spectacular show when she is good and ready. It is the attention to freshness that my Mother and I spend making sure the ingredients used in the preparation of the food is precise (notice me stringing beans in video....I had lots of practice when I was a kid...) The Chefs prepare each dish as if they were preparing for the President of the United States. Our clients are that important to us. We prepare our culinary delights from the heart and we continue to “tweak” making sure each event is as if it was our first in preparation. The flowers.....I love working with flowers. There are lots of preparation of time to make sure the wedding flowers are exact and in perfect condition. Flowers are delicate and like all living specimens they must receive the love and attention they so deserve. I am constantly studying floral designs and blooms. At Waters Mill, it is important we stay on the cutting edge. (just found a new product I am using in a few weeks. Can’t wait to show you those pictures) I have to admit I get a little perturbed with magazines that advertise for brides to DIY their flowers. I understand the temptation to do your own flowers in order to maintain a budget but this is not always a wise option. I spend hours prepping my flowers and making sure everything is exactly how they should be. It is not unusual to catch me in the middle of the night making a cooler run in my PJs to make sure my flowers are ok and resting just fine in order that they make their debut for my bride. Worrier you say...perhaps but I am more on the lines of a perfectionist. It comes from a very long lineage on my Mother’s side of the family. I have privilege to work with my floral designer. He is very creative and we are able to share the vision beautifully. I work with the bride and get the vision and then I relay this to my designers and it is amazing the end product. Floral decor is an art design and I work with only the best. The day of the wedding is all about execution. You can have everything exactly planned out on paper but if you do not have the staff that is trained and experienced, the end result will not achieve your expectations. At Waters Mill, I have a staff that “Rocks it Out”. I have worked with my staff for years and they just continue to get better and better. In little old Dahlonega, Georgia located in the foothills of the North Georgia Mountains, you can experience five star dining in a casual atmosphere at Waters Mill. As you can tell, I am a proud “mama” when it comes to my staff and team members. It takes everyone to make our weddings spectacular. And then we save the best for last, the CAKE. I’m not a sweet lover but I must say our cake designer is one of the best in the business. Be sure to view the video of some of our latest weddings. This cake was simply AMAZING. The detail was stunning. I am convinced our designer could hold her own to Sylvia Weinstock. Camera......Our in-house photographers are awesome! Kevin and Jim take their role as the bride’s photographers very serious and realize the importance of capturing every detail of your wedding for the rest of your life. They are constantly studying to make sure they are the best in the industry. Recently, they both studied under the world-renowned, most sought out wedding celebrity photographer, Mike Colon. Their images were beautiful before but now they are simply UNBELIEVABLE.
The end result of all the components at Waters Mill.....a spectacular event. Be sure to watch the video of some of our latest work. Can you tell we love what we do? Come to the North Georgia Mountains and experience a work of art....your wedding day!
